High school students enrolled at CTC earn credit toward graduation while gaining career skills and experience.

Most programs are Honors or Advanced Placement weighted. All courses satisfy the practical arts credits requirement for high school graduation, and many of the industry certifications earned at CTC can be used to satisfy graduation credit requirements for math (up to 2) and/or science (1).

Schedule

The typical high school schedule at CTC is 2 to 3 class periods (2 credits per year). Some classes are longer (4 to 8 class periods, 3 to 9 credits per year).

Transportation

Bus transportation is provided to and from CHS and LBHS for both AM and PM sessions. PCH students walk to CTC for class. Students may also drive their own vehicles. Students in some programs are required to provide their own transportation to clinical sites and OJT assignments.

Attendance

Most CTC programs are clock hour programs, and 95% attendance is required for program completion. Failure to meet attendance expectations may result in dismissal.

College Credit

Some programs allow the student to articulate college credit at Florida South Western (FSW) and other state colleges. For more information, speak with the CTC high school counselor.

Tuition

Tuition is free as a high school student, however, dual enrollment students are responsible for supplies and uniforms. Some programs require prerequisites that are the responsibility of the student (for example, background check required for health science programs). Students who choose to complete a program after graduation must complete the adult application process and pay all fees, tuition and other program costs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher (some programs require a higher GPA)
  • Good high school attendance and behavior record
  • Must attend mandatory Orientation at CTC in the spring
