The placement tests cost $20 (cash is preferred) and students are required to bring a photo ID when testing. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your testing appointment and allot at least 3 hours to complete the process. Late arrivals will need to be rescheduled. All ESOL classes are held at Charlotte Technical College.

Adult Career Center's ESOL Program

The Adult Education Career ESOL program offers non-native English speakers a chance to improve their English skills while developing a career pathway for better employment opportunities. We offer:

  • Everyday functional English for all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) with grammar and vocabulary
  • Career and college readiness pathways and support
  • Transition to certificate/ credit programs and employment
     

ESOL can also help with

  • Attainment of a secondary school diploma (GED®)
  • Computer literacy

To participate in our program, students must: 

  • be 16 years or older 
  • be able to complete a minimum of 10 hours a week of coursework to participate 
  • not be enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school 
  • attend orientation and testing 
  • pay $45 tuition per term plus $20 for testing* 

* Through an application process, students can apply for tuition scholarships
