Criminal Justice Operations is a two-year program for 9th-12th graders. Students learn about the criminal justice system, criminal law, court systems and trial procedures, the juvenile justice system, the correctional system, patrol procedures, report-writing, traffic control, defensive tactics, safety, CPR and first aid, and prevention of disease and bloodborne pathogens. Experienced instructors teach criminal investigation procedures, fingerprinting, forensic photography, crime lab examination, and property control procedures to prepare students for a career in Law Enforcement.

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA, good attendance.

  • High School Application Process
    • Complete the CTC High School Application online in the spring.
    • Let your high school counselor know that you applied to CTC.
    • Notification of acceptance/non-acceptance will be emailed.
    • Attend mandatory Orientation at the CTC campus with a parent or guardian.

  • After successfully completing this program, the student will be able to perform the following:

    7. Describe the use-of-force guidelines as it applies to Federal, State, and local laws and physical proficiency skills.

    1. Identify the goals of a criminal investigation.
    2. Discuss Investigative searches and seizure and the Constitution.
    3. Demonstrate investigative report writing.
    4. Demonstrate how to obtain Information for a criminal investigation.
    5. Examine various types of criminal investigations.
    6. Evaluate crime scene safety protocol.
    7. Describe and demonstrate criminal investigation procedures.
    8. Describe and/or demonstrate forensic science tasks, such as fingerprinting, crime laboratory examination, and forensic photography.
    9. Explain and demonstrate property control procedures.
    10. Demonstrate computer literacy.
    11. Apply job related math skills.

    Police Service Officer

    1. Describe and demonstrate traffic control procedures.
    2. Identify the authority of the TCI as outlined in chapter 316.640, F.S.
    3. Evaluate the procedures of traffic crash scene management.
    4. Describe how to properly execute scene management.
    5. List the basic principles of traffic crash investigation.
    6. Determine the causation of a crash.
    7. Describe and demonstrate how to complete the on-site Crash Investigation.
    8. Document and complete a report.
    9. Describe courtroom demeanor and testimony.
    10. Explain the community service officer's/police service aide’s role, ethics, and professionalism.

    13. Conduct preliminary property crime investigations.
    14. Understand the requirements of Chapter 493, F.S., and 5N-1, F.A.C., regulating the private security industry in Florida.
    15. Understand Chapter 776, F.S., and the legal authority and liability for security actions involving the use of force.
    16. Apply basic first aid techniques.
    17. Conduct emergency procedures.
    18. Understand the importance of ethics and professional conduct.
    19. Demonstrate understanding of access control.
