The purpose of this program is to prepare students for careers as digital media/multimedia artists. This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster.


The content includes, but is not limited to, practical experiences with specialized skills in multimedia presentations, such as imagery, time-based media, internet communication, and audio used to produce a variety of interactive multimedia presentations.

  • Standards

    After successfully completing this program, the student will be able to perform the following:

     

    Theory and Foundations of Design

    1. Demonstrate knowledge of presentation production issues.
    2. Demonstrate basic computer knowledge.
    3. Demonstrate knowledge of still images and time-based media production.
    4. Demonstrate knowledge of photo and time-based editing software.

     

    Multimedia Digital Designer

    1. Demonstrate proficiency in advanced design.
    2. Demonstrate understanding of color modes.
    3. Identify key animation principles (e.g., momentum, overshoot, bounce, etc.).
    4. Demonstrate proficiency in using fonts for advanced design.
    5. Demonstrate proficiency in using illustration software.
    6. Demonstrate knowledge of design layout software.
    7. Demonstrate proficiency in using presentation software and equipment to produce a complex presentation.
    8. Develop proficiency in using authoring software.

     

    Multimedia Web Interactive Designer

    1. Demonstrate proficiency in preliminary webpage design.
    2. Demonstrate understanding of HTML and CSS.
    3. Demonstrate proficiency in authoring software for webpage design.
    4. Demonstrate knowledge of social media.

     

    Multimedia Integrated Producer Designer

    1. Demonstrate proficiency using video editing software and equipment.
    2. Identify broad range of roles for time-based media production.
    3. Demonstrate proficiency using all media to create a promotional campaign.
    4. Apply job readiness, career planning and job seeking skills to meet personal and professional goals.
